We don’t collect any personal data on our website except server logs or when you fill out one of our online application forms. See “Third-party services” below for more details.

Netvöktun ehf complies with GDPR. The server is located in their data center in Borgarnes, Iceland.

Server log files

We automatically collect and store information that your browser transmits to me in “server log files” on our Netvöktun ehf server. These are:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address

This data will not be combined with data from other sources.

The basis for data processing is Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO, which allows the processing of data to fulfill a contract or for measures preliminary to a contract.

Newsletter service

You can sign up for our occasional Newsletter to receive updates and news about The Icelandic Textile Center. We never sign you up automatically. You have to use the sign up form on our website and confirm your subscription with the double-opt in process. To sign up we require and verify your email address and you can provide an optional name.

All subscriber data is collected by our newsletter service MailChimp. MailChimp offers extensive analytics tools to check if newsletters have been opened and links have been clicked. We only use those analytics to check how interesting and relevant our newsletters are for the entire list of subscribers over time. We never use them to analyze individual subscribers.

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time. This can be done by using the unsubscribe link in every newsletter or by sending an email to and we will handle it for you.

We use the following third-party services to improve the performance and usability of our site:

Contact Forms

We use the Contact Form 7 plugin to manage contact form submissions. The information is sent as email messages that only a select few are allowed to access. The information is also stored in the database on our hosting server for backup and later reference purposes. We store user input data sent through the contact forms on this website, along with meta information about the submissions, including the time stamp, the origin IP address, and the user agent (browser). We don’t set a particular time limit on storing information because we need it for future reference. If you want your information to be removed from our database, please contact us. We will remove it anytime there are concerns about your privacy. We do not share the information collected through our contact forms with any other parties.

WooCommerce (Automattic)

We use the WooCommerce (Automattic) WordPress Plugin to process our online conference registrations and payments. WooCommerce (Automattic) complies with GDPR. You can find their privacy policy here:
